| Since 1949, the Oklahoma League for the Blind has been a life-changing source of hope and empowerment for Oklahomans living with blindness and visual impairment. Through employment, rehabilitation and support services, we hope to give so much more than a helping hand – but to give everyone who walks through our doors the opportunity to live with the independence so many fear they have lost. SO WHY THE NAME CHANGE? AND WHY NOW? Even after 60 years, our mission has not changed. But the world around us has. The opportunities for blind and visually impaired people have expanded tremendously – and so must our thinking and communication. Starting with our name. With a newly charged energy and focus on the future – but our hearts firmly connected to the foundations upon which we were built – we will work passionately to empower even more visually impaired Oklahomans to believe, to practice and to live the idea that . . . |
