Volunteer Opportunities
NewView Oklahoma welcomes the expertise and enthusiasm volunteers bring to our organization. Whether you can volunteer one day per week or one day per month, you are welcomed and appreciated for what you can offer. Some volunteers offer a few hours a year at specific events, while others work several hours a week.
If you are ready to volunteer… here are just a few of the opportunities!
- In House Reading Program – Read mail and pay bills for a blind or vision impaired person once a week, usually on a specific day. Approximately one hour per week.
- Administrative assistance in our Rehabilitation Department - assists OLB Vision Rehabilitation staff with filing, managing correspondence, and organizing adaptive equipment
- O.W.L. (Oklahomans Without Limits) Summer Camp – OLB hosts an annual summer camp for blind and vision impaired children. Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the smooth operation of camp.
- Macular Degeneration/Low Vision Seminar – In a partnership with the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute, OLB brings together Oklahoma’s top specialists in the field of low vision for a one day seminar. This program is designed to educate the public about services and programs, adaptive equipment and surgery procedures offered in the metropolitan area. Volunteers are needed at this seminar to assist with parking, help attendees enter the facility, and serve lunch
- Braille Production - Print Reader - OLB is available to transcribe menus, signage and other essential communications into Braille for local businesses and institutions.
If you are interested in volunteering for OLB please fill out the volunteer manual and return to NewView. OLB Volunteer Manual (89.5 KB Word Document)
